Under The Sea

Hi!!

I 'm showing you a nail art that I am really really proud of today. I was inspired by this swatch of Starrily Sea Glass by Chalkboard Nails. I love how that polish looks, and I wanted to do a similar "sea-ish" thing.

I wanted the design to have a lot of depth, and make it look like you were staring down in a tropical ocean with all kinds of treasures.

So I set to work! I used a mega bunch of polishes for this one - so much they couldn't properly fit in one picture.

Here's the list: Essie Lapiz of Luxury, Essie Naughty Nautical, Essie Trophy Wife, Safari No 29M, Sally Hansen Teal Tulle, Ciaté Pool Party, Only You Stairway to Heaven, Only You Blue Velvet, NYC Ink Stain, OPI DS Lapis, and Catrice Glitterazzi.

I started with 2 coats of Lapiz of Luxury, and then I used a ball of cellofane (I hope that's the correct word for it in English?) to dab on the other polishes. I made sure there were lighter and darker spots.

Then I added 2 thick coats of Glitterazzi. After that, I dabbed on some more blue on top of those flakies to make sure they were coloured blue. And I added a few layers of top coat to get that glassy look.

Here's a close-up - not sure if it's really necessary but I love how you can see those different colours of blue everywhere.

I actually think this is one of the coolest designs I've ever done!

Do you think I succeeded in my attempt to make it look like a tropical sea? I love how it has so much depth - and so much blue, I love blue :D

Thanks for reading!

    But, wow, so many polishes...
How do like the DS polish from OPI, I didn't dare to buy one yet, even though I like the look of them?!

    1. Haha yeah it was a looooot of polishes! I really like DS Lapis, it's a very pretty shade, textured too, it dries matte, and with pretty sparkles :) It also looks amazing with a shiny top coat! I also own DS Pewter and it's the same formula as Lapis. I do like Lapis more because it's blue :D Those are the only two OPI DS's I have though so I don't know how the other DS's are, but when I see swatches they look really nice :)

    2. But, I don't think my DS's are comparable with other DS Series as the two I have are from the "Raw Granite" series and the other DS collections aren't textured, if I googled it correcly :)

  8. This is GORGEOUS! I'm a scuba diver and I totally see the ocean in these nails. (And yes, cellofane is the right word! It's spelled "cellophane" here in the US but that might be a regional thing. You can also call it "plastic wrap." Hope that helps!)

  9. This is so dreamy. LOVE it! Oh and "technically" cellophane is actually not the same thing as plastic wrap, as it's much stiffer. So I would call it "plastic wrap", but either way I think people will know what you're referring to. :)
