Born Pretty Store Review - Virgin Mary Water Decals

*Disclaimer: some items in this blog post were provided for review. All opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by anyone or anything.

Hi!

This time, I have a review of some Born Pretty Store water decals for you. They're called Virgin Mary water decals. The sheet I received (there's two different kinds) looks more like a Renaissance painting and not so much like the Virgin Mary, but the other one is indeed filled with Virgin Mary decals. You can see them here on the BPS website.

I was inspired by this design by Hey, Nice Nails - I just love how it looks! I wanted to recreate it, so I chose the water decals nr. BOP/006. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up and I received the decals BOP/004. They still are very nice, but not entirely suited for recreating that design.

So I took the design as inspiration and went into creative mode! I used a painting water decal and a floral water decal, and played around with (a lot of) negative space, gold embellishments, and black polish. In the end, I'm very happy with how this came out!

It's so not what I normally do but I always love seeing these sort of designs on people. I think it really looks high class, like you had your nails done at an experimental cool nail salon!

The water decals were very easy to use, just plunge them into water and stick them onto your nails! I had no issues with them whatsoever. Here's the instructions:

For this design, I started out with two coats of Ridge Filling Base Coat from HerĂ´me. It's slightly pinkish, and gives my nails a nice pink hue that still looks very natural.

I also used Claire's Honeycomb and Only You's Black Passion. I sealed everything in with my Fast Drying Top Coat from Only You.

Stupid big bottle with that enormous cap. It can't even fit properly into pictures!
I forgot to take a picture of the sheet of decals before I used some of them, but you can see all the images on the BPS website.

And here's a picture of the used sheet! You get lots of those painting images, most of them with a vase and flowers on them so there's a lot of the same image. But there's also a painting with two women (which I used), some gorgeous flowers (which I also used), and some other paintings as well.

To sum it up:

Price?: These water decals are currently in promotion and cost 1$.73 (instead of $2.16). For this price, you get one sheet of decals with a variety of images on it. You can choose from two different sheets: BOP/004, which I reviewed here and has mostly square images, and BOP/006, which mostly has round and oval images.

Where can you get it?: You can find these water decals here on Born Pretty Store.

The final verdict: I like these! I suppose the images aren't for everyone, but I like stuff like this a lot and I love all the designs you could do with it! The decals were very easy to use and I didn't have any issues with them.

Discount? Yeah! You can use the code XDX31 to get 10% discount on all your orders from Born Prety Store!

So, what do you think of these decals, are they your thing or not so much? And what do you think of the nail art I created?

Thanks for reading! :)

  3. Wow Robin those nails are fantastic! I love how you combined these pictures. For me it would be hard to create something with those that's why I'm so amazed how you made something so amazing out of them.

  4. These decals are very cool, the look so "artsy" *haha*, did you paint those black things (don't know a proper other word for it right now) or is this a polish, if yes, which?
Sorry for spamming your previous post, but I couldn't stop myself! :)

    1. Thanks Franzi!! I like it when you spam my previous posts :p It makes me feel popular!

The black thingies on my middle finger is not a polish on it's own sadly, but it's a really easy effect to create! I painted some black polish on a plastic bag (like you would do to make decals) and let it dry. When it was dry, I scraped small pieces off of it with a little knive, to create those small flecks, and I just placed them on my nail :) I loved the effect!
