Born Pretty Store review: French Edge Flower Water Decals

*Disclaimer: some items in this post were received for review. All opinions are my own and are not influenced by anyone of anything.

Hi everyone!

I'm back with some Born Pretty Store reviews! I have gotten some lovely items to review, and I'll be starting with these cute french edge flower water decals! You can see them here on BPS. I picked pattern B-058 because I was in a purple mood :)

You get 14 water decals in the package, in three different sizes if I counted correctly.

You only have ten nails, so you will definitely have enough decals for a full manicure - and you can even mess it up a few times. If you decide, like I did, to only use a few of the decals, you'll obviously be able to use them in more designs.

To give you an indication of the sizes: I used the biggest size on my thumb, the smallest size on my pinky, and the middle one on my pointer finger.

There are instructions on the back of the package which tell you how to apply these water decals - the principle is the same as with every other water decal. I followed these instructions (besides the blow drying) and everything went great.

For this design, I first painted my nails with a very soft pink colour by Nivea; it's called Soft Rose (how appropriate). When that was dry, I applied the water decals. They're really easy to apply. I top coated the decals.

I then painted the tips of my middle and ring finger with Sweet Shop by Claire's. Btw Jayna, if you're reading this, you'll be happy to learn that I have bought 3 new purple polishes! All from Claire's. Sweet Shop is one of them :)

You can see some irregularities of my nails sadly, as the pink polish doesn't cover them - it just makes my nails look less stained. So please ignore those!

Now, as you can see, the original shape of the decals does not match my nail shape. That's not really a problem, because when you have applied the decals, you can softly file off the excess - which is exactly what I did. And after filing, I also sealed in my tips with top coat.

The only thing you need to watch out for, is to allow enough drying time for the decals when they're on your nails. I waited for about 8 minutes before capping them with top coat, and then another 10 minutes before I filed off the excess - just to make sure the decals don't move or tear while filing (when they're still wet they can tear easily).

If you want to see how these decals look on a different nail shape, I suggest you go take a look at my friend Emily from Nailsxo here! She also reviewed these decals and loved them a lot :)

I wore these decals for two days. I did notice some tip wear after a day and a little corner of the decal went missing on my thumb. I went shopping that day and tried on a bunch of jackets with zippers - zippers are deadly for a manicure when your nails snatch on them. All's well that ends well though, because I found a new super fuzzy jacket to keep me warm this winter ;)

I adore how this design looks - I am really loving the french edge! I didn't think I would like it because I usually don't like french manicures, but it's just so elegant here :)

So, let's recapitulate!

Price?: These gorgeous french edge flower water decals cost $1.99 at the moment. You get 14 decals in different sizes. You can choose between two floral patterns - I picked B-058. I found that these decals also come in two other floral patterns as well - you can see them here. They have the same shape as the ones I tested, so I assume they are just the same ones only with a different pattern.

Where can you get them?: You can find these water decals on Born Pretty Store here.

Discount?: I have a discount code for you! Enter XDX31 and you will get 10% off on all your orders!

The final verdict: I like these decals! The flower pattern on them is very pretty, and they look really elegant on your nails. There was some tip wear, but it wasn't really noticeable to anyone else but me. The big plus is that these decals were eaaaasy to use, and you get a very pretty manicure for minimal effort :)

What do you think of these cute decals? Thanks for reading!

  6. What a pretty mani! I like that you mixed it up and didn't use the decals on all your nails--makes the flowers stand out even more on the ones where you did use them.
