Hipster Harry Potter

Disclaimer: some items in this post have been previously received for review.

Potterheads rejoice, for your hearts will be warmed by today's design!

A few weeks ago I won a giveaway hosted by Accio Lacquer (if you are not following her already, GO! NOW!). The prize was a set of vinyl nail decals of Harry Potter by Lacquer By Lissa. I picked the colour silver because I thought it'd look great with a galaxy design - so I've had this design in mind for quite some time now! I showed you the galaxy design already here, so we'll go straight on to the decals!

If you're wondering about the title of this blog post: I thought galaxy nails could be considered quite "hipster" (especially because there are so many pictures out there with inspirational quotes on top of some galaxy print) so it seemed fitting - especially with the Deathly Hallow hipster triangle decal ;)

I don't think you all know my fondness of Harry Potter yet, but I'll tell you: I'm fond. Very fond. As for most people my age, Harry was a friend during my childhood and teenage years. He grew up when I grew up, faced problems I faced, and discovered the world just like me (although his world was a bit more magical). That magical world he lived in seemed like the most amazing place ever - and it still does.

My boyfriend and I even went to the red carpet event in London for the world premiere of the Deathly Hallows Part 2 film! It was amazing to be on a square filled with people who carried Harry in their hearts, who had grew up with him just like me, and who were all so sad that it was over. It was a total cry fest - even the actors and J.K. Rowling were sobbing. Proof of that is in this amazing picture I took that day, which I love so much:

Ugh my hearts breaks just looking at it. Whyyyyyy is it over?!
It was basically one of those things that you look back on and are like "Wow I was really there that moment!" But enough with the sob story! HP rocks, that is basically the main thing you need to remember :D

On to the nails! The sheet of decals is ginormous. Like, huuuuge. I don't have to worry about using the decals up too quickly because you really get a whole bunch - I like! Decal designs include of course Harry's face, his glasses, his lightning bolt shaped scar, platform 9 3/4, and the Deathly Hallows sign. I decided to use Harry's cutie face, the Deathly Hallows, and the scar.

There are instructions on the back of the package to help you with application. These were really easy to apply, they didn't break or rip apart and stuck well to my nails. I applied top coat to seal them in and they stayed on great!

These vinyl decals are different from water decals, in that 1) you don't need water (duh) and 2) you can't move the vinyl decals around anymore after you placed them onto your nails. I was worried about misplacing them and ruining everything, but it totally worked out fine!

I dug up my boyfriend's Harry Potter props (well, the scarf isn't just a prop, he wears it) to take some mighty Potter-ish pictures.

My boyfriend is a total Gryffindor. But I'm a Ravenclaw!
In case you're wondering: this is a wand!
So, to sum up: IT'S HARRY FREAKING POTTER! I will treasure these decals for a long time <3
What do you think of them? Any other Potterheads reading my blog? :D

Thanks again to Mish of Accio Lacquer for organizing the giveaway and for the super fun email conversation afterwards! Mish is just great, she is such an enthusiastic person and has a loooot of fandoms she incorporates in her blog - she uses the best gifs and refers to so much fun stuff and her blog posts are written amazingly well. You should totally go check out her blog right now and then wonder how you could have lived so long without her amazingness in your life. Seriously, you will not be dissapointed. Big thanks to Lacquer By Lissa as well for wanting to spread some HP love and give away the decals!

And big thanks to you for reading! ;)
