Mod Lacquer Review - High Strangeness & Men In Black

*Disclaimer: this product was provided for review. All opinions in this blogpost are my own and are not influenced by anything of anyone.

Dear reader, be prepared for an abundance of rainbowsssss today!!

I had the chance to swatch and review some Mod Lacquer polishes, about which I am beyond excited! Which is why you will now be overwhelmed by several hundred pictures in this post because I just couldn't pick - they all look amazing, because the two polishes I swatched just ARE amazing!

My first thought when the package arrived was MHHH YEESSSS RAINBOWS GOODD YEEESSSSS *insert funny noises of happyness here* *and a slightly creepy me stroking the bottles*

I've always been in awe of the gorgeous polishes Jennifer from Mod Lacquer makes - and especially the holo's Like, seriously, how holo can a polish be?! I will tell you: VERRY VERRY HOLO.

As it turned out, the two polishes Jennifer sent me are holographical! I received Men In Black and High Strangeness. I'll start by giving you some general information about the two polishes: I used two easy coats for all my swatches, no top coat. Both polishes were really easy to apply, they didn't drag and they didn't leave brush strokes. After about 4 minutes the polish was dry to the touch (if you pushed hard on it it'd still leave a dent or finger print - just refrain from pushing hard on your nails I'd say. No fingerprints anymore after about 15-20 minutes).

The only tiny downside I could find was that these polishes do show some flaws of your nails - I have some dents on the nail of my ring finger and pinky and if you look closely you can see these dents (in real life, not so much in the pictures). However, you'll only notice it after I've told you and have shoved my finger in your eye. The holographicalness is so strong that it just overpowers any tiny flaw in my nail, so I totally do not mind. Still, it seemed fair to inform you of this (but you could always use a ridge filling base coat if your nails are in bad shape).

Now, let the picture fest commence! First up is High Strangeness. It's a gorgeous lilac/violet polish with linear holo. The following pictures were taken in direct sunlight:

My camera officially couldn't handle all the awesomeness and stopped focusing on my nails.

The next were taken in indirect natural light - as you can see, the holo is still there! You can see what a nice, soft colour High Strangeness is.

And the final pictures were taken in direct artificial light (in my lightbox).

My camera decided to focus on the bottle instead of on the nails. Ah well, the bottle looks pretty too!

In conclusion: the holo game is strong in this one!

Next we have Men In Black! This is a charcoal polish, also with linear holo. The first pictures here are taken in direct sunlight:

I had to go stand on my balcony for this picture - people walking by were totally "omg that girl is taking pictures of her nails how creepy!" They would've thought differently if only they could have seen this gorgeous polish, they would so have agreed it was worth taking pictures of.

The next ones are taken in indirect natural light (but on different days, hence the total colour difference of my hand)

The holo is still there as you can see. I really really love this colour: it's so nice and subtle, and it's what I would imagine to be "office friendly", right? Or at least if you steer clear from direct light sources. Hmm, not so office friendly maybe unless your office has no lamps. Anyway, from afar Men In Black looks like a grey colour with some nice shimmer to it, but then BAM in light it transforms into a gorgeous phoenix with lush colourful feathers yelling out LOOK AT MEEE LOOK AT MEEE!

And some final pictures of the beautiful phoenix that is Men In Black in my lightbox (direct artificial light):

Yeah. Holo game is also strong in this one! Both polishes are extremely pigmented so you're always carrying a little rainbow on your nails - that makes me so happy! Next time I want some serious rainbow happiness in my life, I know what to do!

So, to sum it all up: you like holo? You'll love these! Perfect formula, easy application, and two coats for the best holo effect I have seen. Big thumbs up. And while we're throwing body parts at Jennifer, she can have my heart as well.

I celebrated the awesomeness called High Strangeness and Men In Black by making another collage! And then another one! (you would not believe how many collages I have made of these babies today. I even had my boyfriend give his opinion on the best ones)

Not really in focus but who cares because rainbows!

Both Men In Black and High Strangeness are $11, and they come in bottles of 15 ml. Mod Lacquer is cruelty free. You can go drool over pictures on Jennifer's Etsy shop here or go stroke your laptop screen gently while visiting her Mod Lacquer's Facebook page here. And what's more, Mod Lacquer doesn't just make holo polishes! Jennifer has a whole array of polishes, such as duochromes, crelly's and glitter toppers which are all to die for (I mean, Paranormal Paradise, jum!)

What do you think of these? Do you share my excitement? Thanks for reading!
