Hi! :D
You might remember my January-February haul post. You already saw my Sally Hansen Satin Glam swatches and the swatches of the polishes I got as a gift from Miriam. Today I'll be showing you some more swatches of that haul. This post has been lurking in my unpublished folder for a while now, so it's glad to finally come out!
I'm going to show you Catrice Earnie & Birdy, Maybelline NY Lover, L'Oreal Boho Look and 2B Leather Effect Bordeaux.
First up, Earnie & Birdy and NY Lover!
Or to be more accurate, I'm showing you Earnie & Birdy hidden behind NY Lover, because it's not a very good polish on its own :/
Earnie & Birdy is quite streaky even at three coats, and you definitely need three coats for decent coverage. Maybe at 4 coats the streakyness would disappear but that was too much for me.
In the pictures the streakyness isn't noticeable and in real life I suppose it's only noticeable to nail polish lovers, but it bothered me. It also chipped within 2 days so meh. Might be because I had to use thick coats for coverage.

So anyway, I did 3 coats of Earnie & Birdy (which is a pretty colour though) followed by one thick coat of NY Lover.
I had to fish for the hearts and placed them where I wanted. The glitters didn't spread out whilst applying them so I had to move them around a bit on my nail to make sure they weren't all lumped up in one place. The hearts stick out a bit and don't lie flat on your nail, so a good top coat is needed. Nonetheless, cute glitter!

Next up is Leather Effect Bordeaux. I had to get used to this polish - at first I really didn't like it. But after wearing it for a few hours I started to appreciate it and now I think it looks kind of cool.
You definitely need 3 coats of this polish, because otherwise it doesn't really look like "leather effect" but more like "Odd nail disease Effect". At 3 coats, however, it looks okay. No top coat of course, as the polish dries to a matte finish for the leather effect.
Now, my lightbox actually makes this polish look AWFUL. It makes the bumps look bumpier and I don't know, it just looks really bad. Looking at this picture below, I would never believe I could like this polish.
BUT: it looks a lot beter in real life! So I added a few pictures in natural lighting too after this one in my lightbox:
You can see how that's better, right?
Next up, L'Oreal Boho Look, another glitter topper.
Boho Look has light pink bars and small hexes, and white flowers. I did two coats on top of Gosh Miss Minty.
I got two flowers out without fishing, but if you want more flowers some fishing is in order! They also stick out a bit so you need a good top coat to seal them in.
What do you think of these, see anything you like?
Thanks for reading! :)
Great polishes. I like the yellow and red glitter combo :-D I've got the L'Oreal on still to try it, and it has a sister too, that I also couldn't resist ;-)
ReplyDeleteI loved the yellow and red too! It reminded me of those yellow NY cabs, which in its turn fitted great with the Maybelline polish theme haha!
DeleteAll of them are wonderful but I love this first one (Catrice) so very much :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice yellow! Though the application is bad :(
DeleteFlowers and hearts are always cute! The yellow one is pretty but I don't think I would like the way of applying.
ReplyDeleteThey are! :D Yes I don't think you would like how it applies either! ;)
DeleteThe last combo is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Simona! :)
DeleteLeather effect looks more like sugar but I really like it! It has beautiful colour and very interesting facture. I would definietly buy it :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Agata! Haha yes it does look like sugar :)
DeleteThe last manicure is my favorite. I like those colors. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Leather Effect Bordeaux looks a little bit weird on the photos. I will like to see it in really to appreciate the leather effect.
I love those colours too, mint and pink are so great together :) Yes it wa so hard to take a nice picture of the Leather polish! It does look better in real life though :)
DeleteLove the glitters! ^_^ Beautiful combinations!
ReplyDeleteIn real life zeker mooier ja, die leather lak!
DeleteThose Maybellines are adorable! We didn't get them here, but the L'Oreal flower glitter we did get seems similar to the one, so I'll be content with that. :)
ReplyDeleteNormally I'm always jealous because you get all the good collections that never ever reach Belgium, so I'm surprised that you won't get the Maybellines! Anyways, I was glad to finally find a heart shaped glitter topper! :)
DeleteI adored the L'Oreal Boho Look. Very Elegant :D
ReplyDeleteIt is :D Thanks a lot!
DeleteThis leather bordo is beautiful, so elegant <3
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like it! :)
