Polished by KPT - Belle Ami

Hiiii everyone!

I have a stunning beauty for you today!

You might remember my polish haul post a few weeks ago (here), so you'll also remember I have 4 new Polished by KPT's to add to my indie collection :) (I also showed you Cadillacquer's Where the Wild Things Are in my previous blog post)

I'm slowly working my way through the beauties, and today I am showing you the first KPT one: Belle Ami!

I think the name is quite funny, because the adjective "belle" is in its feminine form but the substantive "ami" is in the masculine form - normally, it should be "belle amie" (feminine) of "beaux ami" (masculine). Can you tell I kind of like language? :p

I love that the name has this odd quirk though, it's so cute! I was also thinking it might refer to a novel or movie, but those are called "Bel Ami" if I recall correctly.

I ordered Belle Ami after seeing the mind blowing swatches of Kristin at Lacquerstyle (click here and be prepared to want to BUY ALLL THE POLISH!)

It's a lovely thermal polish that is soft grey when warm and a gorgeous burgundy-purple-brown (hard to describe) colour when cold. The transition effect is subtle (as they indicate on their website) but I love it. Belle Ami also has a scattered holographical effect. Purty!

Here's how Belle Ami looks on my nails:

In that last picture, you can really see the transition between warm and cold: on my tips the polish is cold. It looks like this on my nails most of the time: a very subtle (but nonetheless noticeable) gradient of prettiness.

I used three coats of Belle Ami plus my Fast Drying Top Coat from Only You. You can tooootally get away with two coats but I was blinded by the holographical sparkle and I just thought "hey let's do three!"

The formula was superb, the polish goes on so smooth but doesn't flood your cuticles and it doesn't drag. Perfection :D It's always so so nice to discover a brand that has a flawless formula! I'm already looking forward to trying my others from KPT :)

And now, for the total thermal changes! Let's add some warm water to the mix:

It's already starting to get warm again at my tips, as you can see.  This is such a lovely grey colour!
And cold water!

In some lighting, the cold state looks almost a rosy-purple, so pretty.

I couldn't capture the holographical sparkles in my normal lighting setup, so I held my hand under direct artificial lighting so you could see:

I love how neutral these colours are. It's exactly what I want in Winter, actually: just soft, nice, neutral colours on my nails - I probably subconsciously like these because they appear to soothe my freezing mind or something.

Sooo, what do you think? Is the thermal change clear enough for you or do you like it to be more apparent? I think this subtle thermal change is a nice change to all the bold and very visible thermal changes (that's a lot of changes in this sentence).

Anyway: I love it!! (did I mention yet how much I love the neutral colours lol). Do you have experience with this brand yet? Thanks for reading!

  5. Helluu! I'm back again and I had to come to your blog first!
Love this color and your swatches! I think it's extraordinary that it is a thermal and holo polish. Don't have any polishes from this brand, but I've seen lots of nice shades from it!

    1. Thank you Simona! Both colours are also really my taste, I love that!! It's always tricky with a thermal if one of the two colours it changes in doesn't really match your taste so I'm in love with this one! :)
