Born Pretty Store Review - Pink Rhombus Studs

*Disclaimer: this product was provided for review. All opinions in this blogpost are my own and are not influenced by anything of anyone.

Hello my polish loving fiends!

I have another review from Born Pretty Store for you today :) This time I'm reviewing these cool pink mini rhombus pattern studs (yes it's quite a mouthful!) I'm wearing on my ring finger - you can see them here on their website.

There are different patterns available for the studs: rhombus, oval and rain drop patterns. I picked the rhombus ones, and I love these studs a lot. They look really pretty and special. You get 10 studs in a package and they look like this: pink/yellow on the front, and silver on the back.

The studs are quite thick - my initial thought when seeing them in real life was 'oh no, these are going to fall off after 20 minutes...' but they did no such thing. I wore these studs for 3 and a half days without any issues. I have to admit that I didn't do the dishes, but I did wash my long hair twice (which can get caught in studs easily) and I washed some delicate clothing with my hands. After those 3.5 days I took the studs off myself because I wanted to try a new design.

You can see how thick the stud is here. It sticks out quite a bit, but I didn't have any issues with it.

What attracted me to these studs immediately was the color: the light falls beautifully on the studs, and they have a pink colour with some yellow at the edges. I thought they'd pair great with my jewel effect topper from Essence: Million Dollar Baby. I used OPI's Alpine Snow as a base colour because I wanted to keep the design light and bright, plus I just love the combination of the glitters and colours with white.

Btw, if you ever can't get a polish open anymore because there's polish inside the cap and it just dried shut, you can try putting the bottle in warm water apparently! I couldn't get my Essence polish open anymore (I even tried screwing it open with a kitchen tool, hence all the scratches on the cap of the bottle). I was really desperate and put the polish in a glass of warm water and tadaam, it opened after five minutes!

I feel like I need to say a few things about the Essence polish though: it's horrible. It looks pretty, but the see-through polish that holds the glitters looks dirty, is very thick, and the worst part of all: it sort of dissolves the polish you're wearing underneath! Everytime I tried to use Million Dollar Baby I get about a million little holes in my base colour - it's not just bubbles, it's really holes because the polish just gets eaten up by the Essence one. Super super odd. Which is why I chose to place the glitter like this, so I'd use as little of the polish itself as I could. There's still some holes, but it's a lot better this way. Long story short: though this polish might look great, don't get it unless you're ready to deal with holes. Many holes.

Anyway, over to the studs again! They were very easy to use, you just pick them up and place them onto your nail. If you have nail glue it might be best to use that, but as I don't own any I just used top coat to attach the stud to my nail. I also sealed it in with a few layers of top coat. The stud stayed on my nail for three and a half days, at which I was really surprised since it's so thick. The studs are also reusable: I just picked it off my nail with some tweezers and could use it again.

Price?: These studs cost $4.18 at the moment. You get 10 studs for this price, but they are reusable. You can choose from 3 different patterns: rhombus pattern (I picked these), oval pattern or rain drop pattern. The different patterns have different dimensions: my rhombus studs are 4 by 8 mm for example.

Where can you get them?: You can find these studs on Born Pretty Store here.

Discount?: I have a discount code for you! Enter XDX31 for 10% off on your orders.

The final verdict: I liked these studs. They look pretty and special. I think the price is a bit high, but the studs are reusable so that changes my opinion about it. I don't know yet how many times you could re-use the studs, but the price seems more reasonable with this in mind.

What do you think of these? I love how they look paired with my Essence polish :)

Thanks for reading!

    1. Thanks Lucy! Pearly is indeed a good description for them :) I'm happy I got the Essence polish as the glitters in it are so pretty, but that's the only positive thing about it :/

  4. I really love the soft look of your design. I too have this topper, but I think I never tried it (as so many of polishes... I'm a hoarder...) But I will keep in mind, that it's hard to work with!
