The Nerd-Geek Challenge prompt 3: Favourite TV-Show!

Hi everyone!

Today we have another prompt for the Nerd-Geek Challenge! It's our third prompt: "Favourite TV-Show"! And guess which show I picked... ;)

P.s.: you're warned again - I couldn't contain myself so there's lots of random GIF's in this post! :D

I picked... Firefly!! I don't think this show is super famous - partly because it only lasted for one season (booh), but it's one of my favourites! It stars Nathan Fillion, whom you may know from the tv-show Castle.

Firefly is a show about a bunch of space travelers who get in all sorts of adventures, and of course there's some romantic subplots going on too. They have horses and cowboy hats and cowboy guns - it's sort of a western in space, really!

Firefly has such fun characters...

...and while I love all of them (especially Wash who's in the GIF above), my favourite character is Kayleigh! She's an awesome girl who is the mechanic on Serenity, the space ship they're in. And that's why I did a design based on the interior and on the engine room of the ship Serenity!

I couldn't find a proper picture of the engine room, but here's how the interior if the ship looks like - lots of rusty copper colours.

I started out with two coats of Layla magnetic effect 09 Golden Bronze (I love this polish!) and then did a dry brush technique with the following polishes: Layla Golden Bronze, Only You African Queen (I hate this name), E.L.F. Smoky Brown, and b.pretty Cinnachrome

Since the Layla polish is magnetic, I used its magnetic qualities to create some more coolness: I dotted some of the Layla polish onto the design here and there and placed the magnet above it - this way it created a cool effect in certain places, without the magnetic effect being on the entire nail.

After that, I  placed these awesome steampunk pieces from She Sells Sea Shells on my two middle nails when my top coat was still wet.

I didn't top coat these as they were only intended to last me long enough to make pictures - as you can see, this design isn't really meant to last a long time with all those pieces sticking out!

In my steampunk pieces bag, there were mostly silver coloured pieces so I fished out the gold ones to create this design, as gold matches the coppery colours of the polishes so well.

I love these steampunk pieces so so much. I don't care that they're not entirely practical because you can do so many cool designs with these, and I suppose if you place them with a bit more thought on your nails they could actually last a while!

Here's a close-up of those awesome steampunk wheels and pins and whatevers!

What do you think of this design? Yes, I know, not practical, but once in a while it's totally okay to do non-practical designs because THEY ARE SO FLIPPING COOL! :D

Kayleigh agrees that these are cool. (GIF source)

These are awesome! I love these steampunk-thingies! And I love Firefly!
Actually, we discovered the show after the movie, long after the movie, but we were extremely sad (like the whole nerd-geek community) that this show has only one season!
All these guys are badass and lovely at the same time! It's a shame they didn't continue it!
