Make Your Own Polish! - Nayll Swatches and Review Part 1 (Shimmers)

*Disclaimer: this product was provided for review. All opinions in this blogpost are my own and are not influenced by anything of anyone.

Hi everyone!

I'm super excited about today's blogpost, as it is filled with pretty polishes! It's also filled with lots of text because I wanted to give you a lot of information and do an in-depth review, but I also have lots of pictures for you to look at! :)

A few weeks ago I discovered Nayll (pronounce it as "nail"), an amazing online company that allows you to create your own nail polish! I'm sure that many of you have heard of Nayll by now, but I'll give a little introduction in case you haven't: as Sara, the founder of Nayll, says, "Nayll provides customers anywhere in the world the ability to design and name their own nail polishes through the use of Naylls website."

You can create your own custom nail polish and can pick from over 100 ingredients to create any combination you want. Currently, you can create glitter polishes and shimmer polishes, but Nayll is going to offer more and more things to choose from - Sara told me they will soon be adding glow in the dark, neons and thermals to their selection!

I was very enthusiastic about the entire concept already. I had been thinking about making my own nail polish just for fun, but when I researched it I found that you need a lot of (expensive) things you can mostly only buy in large quantities - so you'd be stuck with a big bag of glitter you don't need anymore after making one polish. This is where Nayll comes in handy! You just pick the ingredients you want and even the polish name, after which they make it and ship it to you! They offer international shipping, which is great, and the price starts from $8 (which is also great, I think). The website is nice and easy - I immediately knew how everything worked, and there's also a little introduction video that explains perfectly how you can make a Nayll polish.

You can imagine how happy I was when Sara from Nayll contacted me to do a review :) I got to create 5 polishes myself! How awesome is that, right. It's just incredibly fun to play around with all the glitters and colours on the website! I had a hard time choosing from all the incredible things on the site, but I finally managed to narrow everything down and I made two shimmer polishes and three glitter polishes :)

In today's blogpost, I'll be reviewing my shimmer polishes and in a few days the glitter polishes will be up!

So, these two pretties are my creations! You can read the names on the polish bottles as well: I chose to name the green (or blue?) one Feeling Blue. Green. Whatever. and the plum one Mojo Pin. As you can see in the picture, the Mojo Pin bottle has a small crack in it - that happened while being shipped. I am very glad to report that no polish has leaked into the bottle or has spilled from it. So I imagine these bottles are pretty strong and I don't mind this little crack as long as my polish is still intact.

Feeling Blue. Green. Whatever.

I'll start with Feeling Blue. Green. Whatever. I am wearing three thick coats of FBGW here, without top coat (but if you're careful, two coats would work too). As you can see, the polish dries to a semi-matte finish. I applied this polish in thick layers because I found that worked best. It also minimizes the visibility of brush strokes with this polish.

I created this polish by mixing the Hydrangea Blue Jelly with St. Patrick's Green Shimmer. I absolutely adore this polish! The colour is amazing, it's between blue and green and the polish has a lovely golden/green shimmer to it. This has become my new favourite polish colour, to be honest. I cannot decide if it's green or blue, I keep changing my mind about it! And that's what I love about it too, it's just such a unique colour.
My pictures don't do this colour justice, it's even more mesmerizing in real life!

I wore this polish for about five days (with top coat) and on day four I had a small chip on my thumb - it held up really well!

And to finish FBGW, a close-up shot so you can see the lovely shimmer:

Mojo Pin

The next shimmer I created is Mojo Pin (named after a song by Jeff Buckley, in case you were wondering!) Oh my, oh my. This one takes my breath away. I wanted to create a dark, vampy purple polish, and yes, this is absolutely that! Mojo Pin was a bit easier to apply than FBGW. I used two thick coats here. This first picture is without top coat, to show the finish:

I loved this colour a lot, but thought it might look more spectacular with shiny top coat. And WOW, it did:

Mhhhh, so jummy! I created this one by mixing the Plum Jelly Laqcuer with Carbon Black Shimmer and Merlot Shimmer. This colour turned out so lovely, and there's a great red shimmer in the polish too.

Close-up shot to show off the red shimmer (please excuse the odd placement of my fingers!):

Gooooorgeous!

As you've noticed from my pictures and review, I was very very glad with these two shimmer polishes. These colours turned out even more awesome than I had envisioned, and they're really unique in my polish collection. The subtle shimmer they have is just gorgeous.

So, what do you think of my creations? Had you heard about Nayll yet? If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me or even to email Sara - she's very friendly and is always ready to help!

I'll be back in a few days with my custom glitter polishes! *exciting!*

Thanks for reading!

*EDIT: someone asked me how long the shipping took - I totally forgot to mention that! So here's the information: I placed my order on a Saturday evening, and got a message that my package got shipped on Friday morning. I then received the package at my home on Thursday! So shipping took even less than a week to get from America to Belgium, I was really happy about that.*

    1. Thanks! Yeah shipping is a bit pricey for some at the moment. Sara told me she's experimenting with new ways of packaging the polishes and is hoping to bring the shipping price down :) So definitely check back sometime to see if shipping has gone down ;)
