Shimmer Polish - Julie

*Disclaimer: this item was received for review. All opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by anyone or anything.

Hi!

Today I have another Shimmer Polish review!

What polish?
Shimmer Polish Julie, who has a clear base and is filled with rainbow glitters. There's SO many colours in there, but for me there were three colours that stood out: purple, orange, and turquoise. Shimmers come in bottles of 15ml and are $12.

Formula?
Julie has an easy formula: the base is a bit thick so you get lots of glitter pay off and the glitters are sealed in nicely. No curling or bleeding of the glitter, and I didn't have to fish either.

Coats?
I did 3 thick coats of Julie on my ring finger (plus one coat of top coat), which gives full coverage. On my index finger and pinky I did 1 coat of Julie on top of OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around.

Where can you find it? The Etsy store seems down at the moment but I'm sure it will be back soon. You can always email Shimmer Polish or contact them through the Shimmer Polish blog if you want to order something!

I decided to do a design based on the three colours in Julie that stood out most for me: purple, orange and turquoise. I paired Julie with OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around, and on my middle finger I added three studs in the three colours.

On the Shimmer Polish website it says that Julie has a similar glitter mix to Jenny. I got both for review (you already saw Jenny here) so I decided to compare them! First, bottle shots (Jenny is on the left and Julie on the right):

You can see the difference right away: Jenny is more blue and Julie is more pink/purple-ish. There are similarities though: they both have that orange and light yellow glitter, the green glitters, blue glitters and purple glitters. So while the glitter colours are similar, the ratio of the glitter colours is very different.

Then, the swatch comparison! I did three thick coats of Julie on my index finger and three thick coats of Jenny on my middle finger. You clearly see the difference between them.

On my ring finger I did one coat of Julie on top of a dark blue D'Orleac creme, and I did one coat of Jenny on my pinky. When you see them like this they differ less from each other, however, they're still clearly not the same. Jenny has more blue glitter and also has more tiny glitter, whereas Julie has less small glitter. Jenny's small glitter is predominantly blue, and Julie's small glitter is in a rainbow variety of colours.

What do you think of Julie? I think she's fun! It's a very cheerful mix of glitters :) She's also definitely different enough from Jenny to need both! :D

You can see more designs with her here on the Shimmer Polish blog!

Thanks for  reading!
