Born Pretty Store Review: Rhinestone Wheel

*Disclaimer: some of the products in this blog post have been received for review. All opinions expressed are my own and are not influenced by anyone or anything.

Hello everyone!

I'm back with another Born Pretty Store review! I have a nail art rhinestone wheel to show you today - you can see it here on their website.

In the rhinestone wheel, you get round rhinestones in 4 sizes: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm. I'm not sure how many rhinestones are in this nail wheel: it doesn't say on the BPS website and well, there are too much to count for me. So my conclusion is that you get a lot of rhinestones!

The rhinestones look special: they change colour depending on how the light hits them. So from one angle they look pink, or green, or black, or blue, or whatever. Very pretty, and it gives them something extra special instead of being normal "I always look like see through glass" rhinestones. You can see some colours on them in my picture below:

I decided to combine the rhinestones with a cute pink manicure with silver accents. I painted my nails with New Romantic by Rimmel, and then I used a fan brush and a silver polish from Hema to swipe some silver accross my nails.

Then I mattified it with my matte top coat from Claire's. And finally, I used my fan brush and OPI's Push & Shove to get some glossy silver again on top. I didn't top coat it, as I loved the contrast between the matte and shiny.

I obviously also added the rhinestones to my ring finger (which doesn't have the silver polish on it). I used rhinestones from all 4 sizes, so you could get an idea of how big they are. The 5mm is the biggest one and well, that's pretty big. I first thought it was going to be too big for my nails, but when I had it I totally changed my mind: I think it looks just right!

For the placement of the rhinestones, I was inspired by this design from Paulina's Passions. I loved all the bling it has, so I definitely wanted an over the top accent nail here!

The rhinestones stayed on for three days and kept looking very pretty. I didn't use nail glue, but I had just placed the rhinestones on my nail when the matte top coat was still wet. I hadn't expected the rhinestones to hold up so well (especially without top coat over them, and especially the 5mm one!) but they did great, considering that I washed my hair and helped do the dishes. I didn't have the feeling that the rhinestones were hindering me in any way.

All in all, my judgement:

Price?: This wheel with rhinestones costs $4.47. For this price, you get a whole bunch of rhinestones in 4 different sizes: 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm. I think that this price is really good for the amount of rhinestones you get, plus you can always re-use them if you're careful. It's also great that they come in four sizes, because you immediately get a good stash of different sized rhinestones all at once! If you think 5mm is too big for your nails, you can use the smaller ones so that's handy as well.

Where can you get them?: You can find these rhinestones on Born Pretty Store here.

Discount?: Yes! I have a discount code for you! Enter XDX31 and you will get 10% off on all your orders!

The final verdict: Big thumbs up from me for these rhinestones! The sizes they have are just right for my nails, and you can do so many things with them: just use one on each nail for a subtle and elegant design, or go over the top like I did and combine them all in a blinged out manicure! The rhinestones change colour depending on how the light hits them, so they look really pretty. I'm very happy with them!

What do you think of these? And how do you like my blinged out manicure? I know it's not for everyone but I love it :D

Thanks for reading!

  6. I really love the matte pink and silver combination! I am a big fan of BPS stuff and I've looked up this wheel a while back but I wasn't sure I liked the changing colours. Now that I see them on a real nail art though I must say they are adorable! Gotta check if they are one of the wheels on sale at 0,99$ for the celebrations!

  7. I love that you put the rhinestones over a matte base, that's such a great touch! It really makes the gorgeous rhinestones pop! You can tell how beautiful the rhinestones are from your pictures too, all shining different colours :). It's amazing they lasted so long! I wonder if they fix better over a matte rather than glossy polish? Hmm... oh and before I forget, I love the other nails, I really want to try that technique myself now! Great idea :)

    1. Thank you!! Yes I love the matte vs. shiny rhinestones a lot too! :D I have no idea of my matte top coat holds them better than a shiny one, but I was surprise they held up so good indeed! I still have to practice my fan brush technique a bit but I am really liking the effect, thanks! :)

  8. When I've tried the fan brush technique in the past I've found it quite hard, it looks so easy like all you need to do is *swipe* lol but it's hard to get it to look good, but yours certainly looks good !
